Miniature Goats at 77 Acres
At 77 Acres, our miniature goat stud is centred around the charming Nigerian Dwarf, a breed we fell in love with for their affectionate nature, intelligence and exceptional milk.
Located in Denmark, Western Australia, we are dedicated breeders of Nigerian Dwarf dairy goats, raising a small number of kids each season. From time to time, we offer carefully selected kids to pet and registered breeder homes. Each goat is raised with intention, handled daily, predominantly dam-raised, and nurtured in a family environment to ensure they grow into confident, friendly companions.
Our herd is at the heart of everything we do. Their milk, rich in butterfat and nutrients, is what inspires and underpins our range of goat milk soaps and botanical products a true reflection of farm-made, small-batch quality.
The Nigerian Dwarf Breed
Nigerian Dwarf goats are a petite dairy breed, known for their affectionate personalities and impressive milk production relative to their size.
Originating from West Africa, they are well suited to small properties and lifestyle farms. A healthy doe can produce up to two litres of milk per day, with naturally high butterfat and protein, making it ideal for artisan food and skincare.
They are social animals with a lifespan of 10–15 years and fully grown does average between 43-48 cm in height and weigh between 30-40kg. They thrive on companionship, interaction and variety in their environment.
A Thoughtful Approach to Goat Ownership
Welcoming goats onto your property is incredibly rewarding, but it also comes with responsibility. We are committed to ensuring every 77 Acres goat is placed in a home that understands and values their care.
Shelter & Environment
Goats require a dry, well-ventilated shelter to protect them from rain, wind and extreme sun. Unlike sheep, goats dislike wet conditions, so good drainage and dry bedding are essential. Shade is equally important, particularly in summer.
Fencing
Nigerian Dwarfs are curious and clever; they are agile and skilled at finding weak spots in fencing. A good fence for Nigerian Dwarf Goats should be about 1.2 meters high, made with grid lock and electric fencing. A good gate and latch should be considered that can withstand pushing and rubbing. Goats are highly intelligent and can master opening basic latches, simply by watching and copying you.
Diet & Nutrition
Goats are browsers, not grazers. They thrive on a varied diet including hay, chaff, quality pellets and access to shrubs or branches. Fresh water and mineral supplementation are essential, with diets tailored to your property and conditions.
Health & Welfare
Routine vaccinations, hoof care and parasite management are all part of responsible goat ownership. We take a proactive approach to herd health, including FAMACHA monitoring and veterinary-supported testing when required.
Building a relationship with a local vet is strongly recommended to support ongoing care.
Our Breeding Philosophy
As registered breeders with the Dairy Goat Society of Australia and the Australian All Breeds of Miniature Goat & Sheep, we maintain high standards across animal welfare, genetics and farm management.
We prioritise:
- Strong, healthy bloodlines
- Excellent temperament
- Ethical, low-stress handling practices
- Space to be goats, stimulating mind and body
Our herd is CAE tested, and we maintain detailed health and breeding records for every animal.
Availability
We offer a limited number of Nigerian Dwarf kids each year, with availability varying by season. From time to time, kids become available to carefully selected pet and registered breeder homes.
As herd animals, goats must have companionship and cannot be kept alone. We require all goats to be purchased in pairs, unless they are
joining an existing herd.
To own goats, you must hold a current Property Identification Code (PIC), issued through the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD). Processing times can take several weeks, so we recommend applying in advance.
As a guide wethers (desexed males) start from $650 each, with does and bucks typically ranging from $1,350 to $5,500 depending on genetics and the quality of breed standard.
We prioritise homes that demonstrate a genuine understanding of goat care, welfare and long-term commitment.
Support for New Owners
We understand that bringing goats home is a big step. For new owners, we offer guidance on:
- Property setup (fencing, shelter, feeding)
- Ongoing care and husbandry
- Transitioning your goats into their new environment
