Nestled in the coastal town of Denmark in regional Western Australia, 77 Acres is a working farm where miniature dairy goats, botanicals and small-scale manufacturing come together.

77 Acres is the home we chose after leaving Perth and moving to Denmark in search of a different way of life, one centred around the land, animals and the opportunity to build something of our own. We purchased the farm in 2022 and began the journey of transforming it into a productive working farm.

What started with a small herd of Nigerian Dwarf goats has grown into a farm with a strong focus on animal husbandry, botanical growing and on-farm production. Today, the goats, plants and products are all connected to the story of 77 Acres.

It started with a bar of soap

Our journey into making goat milk skincare began with Kylie entering her 40s and experiencing a significant change in her skin. Redness (and we mean beetroot red somedays), tightness, irritation and dryness had become an everyday frustration, and makeup seemed to last what felt like five minutes before becoming dry and patchy.

There had to be a better solution.

Kylie and Greg began researching skincare and, in doing so, were surprised (and horrified) by many of the ingredients found in some commercial products. The more they learned, the more they began to question whether the problem was actually Kylie's skin or 'what she was putting on it every day.

The answer led them back to the farm and, quite naturally, to their little goats.

With fresh goat milk on hand, Kylie and Greg began experimenting with making their own soap, looking for a simpler, more nourishing alternative to the products they had been using. What started as a personal search for something better became the beginning of 77 Acres' handcrafted goat milk skincare range.

Kylie has never looked back and together with Greg; they continue to develop new products designed to nourish and not disrupt the skin.

Our goats are at the heart of the farm

Our Nigerian Dwarf dairy goats are more than a source of milk for our handcrafted goat milk soap and skincare; they are an important part of everyday life on the farm.

We take a hands-on approach to their care, with their health, welfare and wellbeing always coming first. Our goats all have names and are our real-life kids! We give each of them lots of affection.

Our goats are hand-milked, allowing us to maintain close oversight of their health and milk quality. We believe good products begin with animals that are well cared for, and we are committed to responsible, ethical animal husbandry across every aspect of our herd.

Their fresh milk, naturally rich in butterfat and a similar PH to that of human skin, forms the foundation of our Goat Milk Soap range, creating a direct connection between our animals and what we make. What sets our goat milk skin care products apart from other makers, is the use of Nigerian Dwarf goat milk, it's lower in yield compared to other more commercial dairy breeds, but produces the highest butterfat quality, compared to any other dairy breed, which makes it exceptional for skincare.

Alongside the goats, we are developing our botanical gardens and growing plants that can be harvested and transformed here on the farm.

We grow, harvest and farm-distil botanicals including Lemon Myrtle, creating our own essential oils and floral waters. Every step, from plant to finished product, takes place with care and intention.

Our approach is deliberately small-scale. Rather than simply sourcing ingredients and manufacturing elsewhere, we are building a farm-based production model where we can control more of the journey, from what we grow and raise, through to what we make and package. We were inspired to do this after realising how many Australian botanical products, like essential oil were not actually grown or distilled here. 

Our products are inspired by the landscape around us: the forests, coastline, native botanicals and slower pace of life that make Denmark, Western Australia such a special place.

A farm still evolving

77 Acres is a work in progress, and that is part of what makes it special.

We are continuing to expand our botanical gardens, develop new products and increase our production capability, while remaining true to the small-scale, hands-on approach that defines the farm.

But what inspires us most is the difference our products can make in people's everyday lives. Since we began making our Goat Milk Soap, we have received messages from customers telling us that our soaps have changed their skin, their confidence and, in some cases, their daily lives. Hearing from someone who has struggled with their skin for years and tells us they have finally found something that works is incredibly meaningful to us.

Those stories remind us why we started in the first place, to make something better, simpler and more nourishing. They inspire us to keep learning, keep growing and keep looking for ways to turn what we grow and produce on the farm into products that genuinely add value to people's lives.

Our goal is simple: to build a sustainable, authentic farm business that makes beautiful, useful and nourishing products while staying connected to the land, our animals and the place we call home.
