There is a difference between adding a flower to skincare and taking the time to harness the goodness of the botanical itself. At 77 Acres, our calendula is grown, harvested and carefully dried right here on our farm in Denmark, Western Australia. We oversee every stage, from the first golden blooms to the finished botanical infusion.
And we believe it makes a big difference.
Calendula (Calendula officinalis) has been valued for generations in traditional skincare for its skin-soothing and conditioning properties. Its flowers contain naturally occurring botanical compounds, including flavonoids, carotenoids and triterpenoids, which have been studied for their antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity.
Rather than simply adding dried petals to a finished product which has little skin benefit, we take the time to create our own calendula-infused oils.
Our flowers are hand-harvested at their peak, carefully air-dried to allow any little insects to escape, before being dehydrated for 72 hours before being infused into different skin loving oils. Over several weeks, our infusion jars are turned by hand every day, allowing the oil to extract oil-soluble botanical constituents from the flowers.
It's a slow, considered process that cannot be rushed. From growing and harvesting to drying and infusing, every step happens with care on our farm.
